Hi David,
The best ebooks are anything that:
1. Has to do with making money.
2. Has to do with saving a lot of money.
3. Gives a person the ability to get something that is not easy to afford or achieve..
Some examples would be gambling ebooks, how to make money online, how to save a thousand dollars at Disney world, how to get a bigscreen cheap, a pill to loose weight, etc..
The science behind this is:
You provide something of say $500 value, and they will be willing to pay 1/10th to 1/20th to get it. So, if you can save them $1000 at Disney World, people will pay $50 bucks for that ebook. And, I have seen it sell for about that high, no joke.
But, you have to be able to quantify its value to the customer and point out all of its
benefits..
AND, its all the advertising, not the ebook. The price is also part of the advertising. If you put the ebook at 10 cents, people are going to think its worthless.
That is why people can sell the same ebook for $5 or $10 bucks that one sells for 10 cents, as The $5 or $10 tells the customer it is more valuable. So, you have to differentiate the ad and title, so you don't show the same ebook, but rather provide the details on what the ebook will do for the customer.. If you have the exact same title as the seller selling for 10 cents, it will make it much more difficult to sell for $5 bucks, as you are just telling the customer it is worth $5 bucks, but there is a guy over there selling it for 10 cents.. See what I mean?
But, if your ebook looks totally different (even if its the same ebook), your ad and title are way different and
your price is $5 and your competitor is selling for 10 cents, its going to tell your customer that your ebook is more valuable and worth the $5 bucks.
See the logic?
Now, the idea is to point out the benefits, much more than the features.. The features might be it is 100 pages long. The benefit might be it will save you $500 when taking a plane trip. The benefit is far more relevant..
BOLD, BORDER, CATEGORY FEATURED, ETC:
OK, the idea is to get just the basic ad up at first.. ONCE you get your basic, no bold, no border, ad going good and selling here and there, THEN you try to sell it as a category featured..
So, you do test sales at the low level and when you have it selling consistantly at a good price, THEN you increase the marketing behind it..
An
anology. Its like perfecting a recipe for some food and selling to a couple customers, until you have happy customers and a good recipe. Then, you take it to another level by marketing it majorly. That is basically what we are doing here.
Perfect the product and sale and then put marketing dollars behind it..
ONCE you have it in category featured, you do some tests there trying to get several sales per auction. Once you have it going good, then you branch out into other categories trying other titles.
ONE DAY, you could have the ebook selling in 10 dutch category featured auctions, selling several of the ebook a day. This is the ultimate and only a few ebooks are capable of 10 dutch auctions..
I have a product right now I did this with.. I have 10 dutch auctions up for my TV Projector Kit, which I have been selling
for about 3 years like this and I have made about $70,000 profit off of it in that amount of time. Pure profit..
So, its worth all the work in the end..
I can give you the list of steps to getting an ebook to category featured if you want?
Sincerely
Tony

Tony,
I would like to set up my Ebay store and several auctions by the middle
of next week, maybe sooner. I was looking through your ebooks, and saw that
MANY of them were recipe books. Which of these have you found generally
sell the best? Also, which of the other ebooks do you think generally sell
the best?
How many of the Ebay extras
(bold title, etc) do you use per on an
auction? Do you use these on every auction you put up? If I want to list
like 3 different auctions in different catergories of the same item, how
many items should I generally place at once to get started?
How many items should I list to make having an Ebay Store actually worth
it?
Any advice on what to start with?
