Hi Steve,
What I was trying to say is that if you are selling 6 in 20 days with no bordering, no bolding, no featuring, then it is "healthy".
So, if it is "healthy" that means you can put bolding and category featured on it and see maybe 60 sales in 20 days..
See what I am saying now?
Basically, imagine this.. This is basically where you are at:
Lets say you have a shop in the mall. You sell toys. Lets say you are on the end where no one goes. But, somehow, you still are selling pretty good considering the location.
What the bold and category feature will do for you is put you in the most traffic area of the mall. So, you are going from the 10 people an hour to the 100 people an hour coming through your store.
Since it
sells good when 10 people come through, it seems logical that it would sell 10 times as much if you have 100 people coming through, correct?
Generally, it is true and that is why it is wise for you to try putting your auction at the top of the page for $20 bucks.
BUT, before you rush headlong into it, one thing I learned is you should always raise the price when you put it at the top of the page..
Generally, I add a couple dollars to anything I am selling at the top of the page, compared to when I sell it regularly..
So, I would add a couple bucks(dollars). It could be a couple bucks in the shipping cost or it could be just adding a couple bucks to the price..
Then, you ask yourself, "how many do I have to sell to pay for this auction?"
If you sell it at $4.95 and it costs $25
to list, thats 5 sales go to pay for the auction. So, the only time you do this, is if you think you can get say 10 or more sales.
Otherwise, you consider increasing the price. For, if the price as $6, you would only have to sell 4 to pay for the auction. Then, if you sold 10, you have more profit..
So, its a play with numbers..
I WOULD JUST THINK IT THROUGH and then put an auction at the top.
Then, after it ends, you know if it made profit or not..
If it ends and only sold 8 of them at $5, that is not good. So, you consider changing the price or possibly changing something else so it makes more money. Generally, just modifying the price will do the trick..
So, if you sell 7 at $8, you made $56 - $25 for the listing..
Or, it could be one of those products that flies off the charts and sells 20 at $5 bucks.. $100 -$25. This can easily happen..
Often, just adding more keywords to the title can increase your sales.
Also, another really good one is making sure your icon that shows in the search results is good. If you have a really good one, it can double, sometimes triple your sales.
I know from much experience..
So, try it.. If it doesn't make you a ton of money, look at it as a diamond in the ruff.. You just tweak it here, tweak it there.. and presto you have a killer auction that makes you $50 each time it ends!!
Sincerely
Tony

hi,
actually that would be a good idea, listing like 8,9 18,27 blah blah you get it.
actually all my items mostly ebooks are just plain, buy now, no bordering , or bolding.
i did learn how to hot link pics on the auctions so that i dont have to pay ebay fees for extra pics.
oh one thing the ebay book i mentioned 'dirty secrets on ebay" it has sold i suppose about 6 copies in inventory in about 20 days.
how do you rekon i could improve, it do you rekon i could give it some catchy name to get people to look and if so what would you say would be good?
i will run this again in auction when the inventory item finishes.
Also i could add other ebay related books into the package and value add to it and sell it for slightly more perhaps?
did you actually have a look at what i was trying to sell in my store?.
i will give you the link below, and i remember reading something
about it saying in your add copy for the auction i purchased, about putting my store link in your anchor store add site or somethin similar.

anyway back to you.

Hi Steve,
It looks like you are learning some of the tricks of the trade already.
Yes, if you put less quantity, it can lower your listing costs..
I was wondering, are you putting these auctions at the top of the page, or just in normal fashion? Are you bolding or bordering? This will help me understand more to help you with your auctions.
Here are some other cool tips:
1. Don't start with an amount like 10, 20, 30, etc.. Rather, start with numbers like 8,9,18,19,28,29. It looks like you might have sold one, so some people think it already has sold one. This ties into:
2. Lemming Factor - If someone bids/buys early on a dutch auction, you are far more likely to sell several by the end of the auction.
For instance, if you have 9 available and you sell one on day one, you could get say 4 sold by the end.
But, if you did not sell one until day 7, you will likely only sell 2, with the same ad, at the same time, everything identical.
Its the "lemming factor" where people follow other people. One buys so the others assume it must be good and buy.. It adds weight to your sales..
3. If you can get good sales listing in normal fashion,
often, you can take your auction to the top of the page and get ten times the sales.. But, you will have to pay $20 bucks to put it at the top of the page.. So, it maybe a little risky, but if its a good seller, you will be raking in the money..
Regarding dropshipping. Often, you can make more money simply buying things on eBay and turning around and selling them on eBay.. The easiest is to buy more than one of an item and then turn around and sell them individually on eBay.
One of my more recent purchases I bought 50 PDA/Phones for only $500 and I have been selling them for $40 each.. So 50 x $40 = $2000. I only paid $500 and will in the end make a lot of money off them.

hi,
actually first thing i discovered, was if i was selling an ebook for $2.50 say and listed it in auction with say 10 copies it cost about, 75 cents, if i listen like 3-5 (i just discovered this the other day) it cost 50 cents, and if i did what i was doing listing 100 it would cost around 2.50 or somthing
so listing about 3, made it cheaper, one book i sold about 6 in 17 days in inventory was called dirty secrets on ebay. maybe i could give it a different name(maybe you could come up with a catchy name, to get more people in to look.
but i did notice at the time when i sold 5 copies 55 people (now 6 and 76 views) looked so not a bad conversion rate, as i have learned.
but back to the book, maybe i could also add more ebay or similar books to value add it, and up
the price.
anyway the link to that book is
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&item=220005087252&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
one book that didnt sell

one that i am selling now sold a few copies, over time this was before i learned to hot link pics and i didnt edit the template here
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&item=220008977008&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEUS%3AIT&rd=1
here is a physical product, this is from a place that has stuff at a reasonable discount but not cheap enough to make money on ebay, although i did have an item that did sell it was a JNC 20 GB mp3 player bassic lcd screen, sold 3 in a month then they ran out of stock(this was dropshiped)
the link below isnt the item i just spoke of.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&item=220007553331&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEUS%3AIT&rd=1
have a look at the above, if any of the links dont
work let me know.
before i go here is 2 places that have discount stuff some wholesale lots.
www.dealsdirect.com.au

anyway i will let you look at all this, tell me what you think.
i will go and have tea and watch some tv get of the comp for a while ehehe.
thanks ,
