  1. When I first read about this one in a marketing book, it did not really seem to solidify in my mind. But, over time, as you gain experience, you will see, this is a very true concept. I have altered it slightly from those books I have read.
  2. Generally speaking, marketing books will say something to the effect of, "The sale is 65% marketing and 35% the product".
  3. I break it down a step farther. IF you are selling a branded physical item, marketing is about 65% of the sale, as the saying goes.
  4. BUT, IF you are selling an electronic item or service, such as an eBook, website design, etc, marketing is about 75% of the sale!! Yes, with electronic items, you have even more of the marketing dynamic. That is why some will sell the very same eBook for 30 cents, while another person will sell it for $10 dollars. It is virtually all in the marketing!
  5. So, the Pearl 1 even applies ALL THE MORE to electronic items. Therefore, if some amateur is selling the very same eBook as you at 30 cents, totally ignore him and set yours at the highest price your customers are willing to spend. And, how do you figure this? Just look at eBays History or Past sales.. You can do this through the ebay search function, by clicking on the completed items check box on the left side menu and clicking show items.
  6. What does this all mean to you? Well, if you are a good marketer, you can sell a Playstation, for instance, for $120. If you are an amateur marketer, you will be lucky to get $65. I am being dead serious. Just look at eBays history or past sales and you will see for yourself, this is a fact.. There are a broad range of prices the very same item sells for.
