He has written numerous articles on energy and shipping matters and two books, The Petroleum Shipping Industry: A Non-technical Overview (PennWell, 1996) and The Petroleum Shipping Industry: Operations and Practices (PennWell, 1996). He received a B.A. in economics from Long Island University in 1969 and an M.A. from Fordham University in 1970.Gordon Shearer is president and chief executive officer of Hess LNG LLC, a joint venture of Poten & Partners and Amerada Hess Corporation which was established in June 2004. Before joining Poten & Partners in its Project Development & Finance group in 2001, Shearer was employed from 1978 to 2001 by Cabot Corporation, serving in executive positions with numerous assignments in the corporationÂ’s energy businesses. He received a B.Sc. in Geophysics from Edinburgh University in 1976 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1978. He was appointed to the National Petroleum Council in May 2005.
